Rubicon DX14 – Longest Range Premium Electric Wheelchair: All-Terrain, Foldable & Airline Approved with Dual Motors, Bluetooth & Joystick

So first -the negative. We read all the material and was under the impression that the remote control would be utilized to auto fold this unit. In fact we spent20 minutes on the instructions trying to figure out what we were-doing wrong. Eventually we saw a very small note. Not for this model. I am a retired first responder who got injured. We struggled at first but were able to manipulate it closed. As for the chair itself. Fantastic! I reside in a remote area in Happy Jack Az. I was able to travel the chair up my gravel driveway and traveled 1/2 mile on dirt road to my neighbors home, with no problems at all. Thank you for getting it to me. We have a big jeep club up here. So now I can park my chair along side the rubicon group.

Although I’m a relatively healthy and active 70+ year old, I have severe back pain and mobility challenges that limit me to short walks. Our family wanted to celebrate out 50th wedding anniversary with a trip to a smoky mountain cabin. Knowing our activities would include lots of outdoor activities (lots of walking) I decided to look into purchasing a folding motorized wheelchair so I could keep up with everyone and independently scoot around at my leisure.
A quick Amazon search offered a wide variety of products from which to choose. I quickly realized I’d need to identify my top features and try to find a product to match.

I selected to purchase the Rubicon 14, and have had no regrets. It showed up nicely boxed and carefully and protectively packaged. Unboxing was uneventful and actually fun. I set it up in our living room where I had plenty of room to work. I decided that since they shipped an included tool pouch with a handful of tools to check all the obvious bolt and screw tightness. I was pleasantly surprised when there was only 1 or 2 items that needed just a smidge more tightening!

So, to review my list of requirements…
1. Electric Power. This folding powered wheelchair comes with dual 300 watt electric motors which provide plenty of power to propel this chair and occupant comfortably around standard surfaces. I really like the feature of the lever on each motor which allows you to manually roll the chair if desired. That has come in handy several times and especially when loading and unloading from my ramped carrier on the back of my vehicle.
2. Compact Size. Goes through standard doorways with room to spare. Folds up and stands in our guest room awaiting use. Folds and slips nicely into the back of our car. (See photo.)
3. Adequate Power. Carried me (and later, my wife) up and down paved trails in the mountains and on sidewalks and streets in town with plenty of power. Gear selection (or speed) makes a difference so play around with controls to see what works best for you.
4. A Reputable manufacturer. Rubicon stands behind their products no matter where you purchase yours from. It comes with a standard warranty and parts for your chair are available directly from Rubicon. Replace a motor. Replace a wheel. Most parts can be replaced if you have any mechanical ability. I have not had any issues with my chair so have not needed to contact the company.
5. Lithium Batteries. YES! These hold a charge for the day and recharge quickly. It’s nice to have the option to recharge in the chair or outside of the chair. On this trip I brought the batteries inside our rental and recharged in our bedroom, leaving the chair in our vehicle overnight.
6. Overall Comfort and a Robust Product. In my experience with my Rubicon chair, I have been seriously impressed with the quality of the design, build and operation. This chair is SOLID! Once opened, it locks in place, and that gives you a very stable platform from which to operate. It’s quiet. Yes, you can hear it run, but in my experience with powered wheelchairs, the Rubicon operates quietly and solidly. It does have an electronic horn that has come in handy a few times. This solid product does come at the price of a few more pounds, but I’ve checked comparable units and they weigh in at very similar weights. Mine is around 65 lbs including 2 batteries and small tool kit I keep in the under seat pouch. Hard to lift into my car, but I solved that issue with a set of light weight aluminum ramps. Game changer.
7. Cost. My purchase came to around $1,200 including free shipping. I discovered the next day that I could have saved $200 by buying it directly from Rubicon. Rats! No regrets. I saved several hundred dollars when I chose this unit over several other similar products I have researched online.

All went great during the unpacking and assembly--very easy. However, during setup and initial familiarization, my Bluetooth and controller didn't want to play nice with one another and I didn't have all functions available. I contacted Rubicon online and later that day I had a very thorough response (with video) that provided detailed instructions on how to resolve the issue. Their Customer Service was quick to respond and accurate with the resolution. Their help after the purchase was great!

Very happy so far, bought for wife to aid her mobility issues. She is having a little trouble getting used to sensitivity of the joy stick. However overall she is extremely pleased.

Working well, just wish seat area was about 2” wider

We bought this wheelchair and she loves it!! From more power, bigger ties, breaks, comfortable seat, reflective back lettering, bigger foot pad, better maneuverability ,a seat belt and storage spaces compared to her old wheelchair that cost more! It's fabulous!

I have severe osteoarthritis in my hip I also have a deformity in my ankle same side as the hip. I purchased this because this disability has been preventing me from going places even grocery shopping. I used it for the first time today we went to the mall it worked very well for me and the speed was perfect for my fast walking husband the battery kept a good charge. The chair is comfortable I am 5’5 and weigh 240lbs
If you are tall like my husband 6’3
i recommend going to a mobility store and try them out before buying

The DX14 has given me back my independence in ways I didn't think were possible. The 30-mile range means I can visit my grandchildren across town without anxiety about battery life. The wheelchair handles beautifully both indoors and outdoors - from tight hallways to gravel paths in the park. The Bluetooth feature is innovative and useful, and the joystick control is incredibly responsive. At 64 lbs, it's surprisingly manageable, and the 3-second folding mechanism makes storage and transport hassle-free. This wheelchair has exceeded every expectation. Worth every penny and then some!

As someone who researched extensively before purchasing, I can confidently say the DX14 offers the best combination of features and value. The dual Lithium-Ion batteries provide incredible range, and the all-terrain capability means I'm not limited to smooth surfaces. The posi-traction system works wonderfully on slopes, and the electromagnetic brakes are responsive and reliable. The 32-inch turning radius makes indoor navigation effortless. The fact that it's airline approved and folds compactly means I can travel freely. Customer support has been excellent too. Highly recommend this premium wheelchair!

The DX14 is simply incredible! The 30-mile range is a game-changer - I can go about my entire day without worrying about the battery. The dual 300W motors provide smooth, powerful performance on any terrain. I particularly love the Bluetooth connectivity and the precision of the 360-degree joystick. Despite its powerful capabilities, it folds in just 3 seconds, which is amazing. The airline approval means I can travel without restrictions. The build quality is exceptional, and the electromagnetic brake system gives me complete confidence. This is the longest-range wheelchair I've found, and it's been worth every cent!

I went to the amusement park with my grandkids and didn’t hold anyone back. It still had a full charge after 4 hours, and so did I😃

So far absolutely no complaints. Does everything I need it to do! Makes my grocery shopping a breeze! Pushes a full cart and me (238lbs) no problem!!! Fits and turns nice in my small house! And the seat is comfortable too! Happy In Florida so far!!!! No issues. Although it is kinda heavy to load in a car or truck so I got a trailer hitch cradle with ramp works perfectly. Chris “Ihop” T.
